Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where is the Keerweder Hunting Farm? Keerweder is approximately 90 miles Southeast of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. By the way, Keerweder is an Afrikaans word meaning “Coming Back”. And that is just what we hope you will do – come back time and time again to be our guests. 2. Who will be my hunting guide? Will there be someone different depending on the day? Brian Miller and son-in-law Bennie Beukes will personally guide all parties of two or less every day of your visit. This allows the personal interface that is our stock in trade. If a special request is made for larger parties, additional PH’s we know and trust will be brought in to work under Brian’s direction. 3. What languages are spoken on Keerweder Safaris? Afrikaans, English and German 4. What are the shipping/taxidermy charges for trophies? What information do I need to supply to you? The charges for trophy handling are dependent on the number and size of animals taken and what parts (horns, hide, etc.) are to be sent and the destination. If you have a taxidermist you wish to handle your animals, we will need their shipping information. If you do not have a taxidermist, we will be happy to assist. 5. Is Namibia a safe country to visit? Is it safe enough for my family? Yes, Namibia is a very safe country to visit. The C.I.A. has a website www.cia.gov with safety ratings of foreign countries and they rate Namibia as very safe and stable. 6. Are there any health problems such as malaria in your area? No, none at all in the area in which we live and hunt. However, should you desire to visit Etosha National Park or other places in the extreme north of Namibia then tablets against Malaria should be taken. It is not even necessary that you bring the tablets with you, as the right tablets, at a cheaper price, can be purchased in Windhoek. 7. What documentation do I need for firearms, etc.? The import permits for firearms coming into Namibia must be filled out when you arrive in Windhoek. This process will require inspection of the firearms and recording of the serial numbers. The number and type of ammunition will also be recorded. We recommend that if you are traveling from the United States that you obtain a Certificate of Registration (Customs Form 4457) from the US Customs Service to facilitate the return of your weapons through US Customs. 8. Can you respond to special dietary requirements? Yes, we will certainly meet any special dietary requirements you have. We kindly request that you let us know in advance of your arrival of any special needs that you may have. Most meals feature meat from the farm. Venison from the game animals, mutton, pork, or beef from the farm livestock will be served. Americans who stay with us note a great deal of similarity to American food, with enough of an exotic difference to add variety to the dining experience. 9. I would like to bring my wife along, but she is not a hunter. How likely is she to enjoy the trip and what activities are available for her? Your wife will love it here! It is certainly not necessary for her to hunt to have a wonderful time. She can accompany you on the hunts if she chooses, or she may enjoy the many other activities that are available to her, such as: • Bird watching
