Keerweder Safaris is home to over 18 free roaming species
of plains game and are as follows:
Black Wildebeest commonly known as the white-tailed gnu
with its distinctive long, white tail
Blesbuck Identified by the distinct white blaze
on the face
Blue Wildebeest a cattle-like animal with dark
vertical stripes on the neck and flanks
Cheetah the markings of a Cheetah are solid
black spots over the entire body and can top 60 miles per hour
over short distances of 400 yards. Built like a greyhound.
Duiker of the highest metabolic and through-flow
rates of any of the African antelope; twice than the rate
of a kudu
Eland the largest of the spriral-horned antelopes
of Africa – tough and elusive…
Red Hartebeest the fastest antelope of the region
Impala Athletically built antelope with characteristic
black bands on the tail and buttocks
Kudu large elegant antelope with impressive horns
Leopard Cunning, dangerous, a very good tree climber.
Markings differ from those of the Cheetah in being black spots forming
rosettes of 4-6 spots arranged in a circle
Oryx long straight horns, a sought after trophy animal
Ostrich Very large flightless birds with bare neck
and legs. Males are famous for their “dancing” and aggression
during breeding season
Springbuck Namibia’s only true gazelle
Steenbuck small antelope with large ears
Warthog grayish sparsely haired animal with tusks
and the characteristic tail that is held upright when running
Mountain Zebra Stripes on the side of the body end
in a horizontal line. Exclusive to Namibia
Burchell Zebra differs from those of the Mountain
Zebra in extending around the belly as well as has shadow stripes.
Bird hunting is also available in season. Keerweder

grouse, doves, francolin and guinea fowl – that may be hunted
in conjunction with your plains game trip.
